Realising the potential of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games

The London 2012 Cultural Olympiad is the largest cultural celebration in the history of the modern Olympic and Paralympic Games. Its four year programme involves young people and communities around the UK in a wide range of cultural activity in the run up to the Games.

So far in the East the programme has reached over a million people through more than 40 projects, which have provided in excess of 500 workshops. Open Weekend has also provided over 400 events which have given people new opportunities to experience culture across the East of England.

Cultural Olympiad

Spread over four years, The London 2012 Cultural Olympiad is designed to give everyone in the UK a chance to be part of London 2012 and inspire creativity across all forms of culture, especially among young people. The culmination of the Cultural Olympiad will be the London 2012 Festival, bringing leading artists from all over the world together from 21 June 2012 in the UK’s biggest ever festival – a chance for everyone to celebrate London 2012 through dance, music, theatre, the visual arts, film and digital innovation, and leave a lasting legacy for the arts in the UK.

Update on the Cultural Olympiad in the East of England Dec 2011

Calendar for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad in the East of England

The London 2012 Festival, the finale of the Cultural Olympiad will run from 21 June to 9 September next year. Details of some of the projects that will be part of this Festival are included in this document. Final programming for the Festival will be announced in the Spring.
