Realising the potential of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games

Education

The 2012 Games bid was built on the aspiration to deliver a Games that would 'inspire' a new generation of young people. The education legacy of the London 2012 Games will be a generation inspired by and embracing the Olympic and Paralympic values; Friendship, Respect, Excellence, Determination, Inspiration, Courage and Equality.

The London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) launched its domestic education programme 'Get Set' in September 2008 and already over 1200 schools in the East of England have registered for this online programme and resource.

We are already seeing some of the benefits that London 2012 can provide in this area with schools that have integrated the Games into their curriculum reporting higher levels of attendance and interest, especially in subjects such as history, science and technology.

In October 2009 LOCOG  launched the 'Get Set Network' enabling schools registered for the programme to use a bespoke London 2012 Education logo to promote its committment.
