Realising the potential of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games

Legacy trust

Legacy Trust UK is an independent charity that is creating a lasting cultural and sporting legacy from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

In July 2008, the East of England was awarded £1.5m of Legacy Trust UK funding to deliver a programme of activity. This programme consists of two strands:

1- Team East for Skills
A volunteering into Employment programme, co-financed by the European Social Fund, aimed at unemployed and economically inactive people furthest from the labour market. This programme has provided support to over 1,500 individuals since 2009, including hands-on volunteering experiences and practical one-to-one assistance in finding pathways to further vocational training, apprenticeships and employment.

2- Regional Events Fund:
A regional events fund designed to support the development of major cultural and sporting events in the region, not only enhancing the region's tourism offer, but also helping to develop local talent by providing volunteering opportunities. Support has been provided to the Great East Swim, community based cycling activities in Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk and in 2012 you can get involved with the Screen Team, Norfolk & Norwich Festival, Carnival Crossroads and Exchanging Worlds to celebrate the Games, take a look here for further information about these events and activities or contact Caroline Lawson, Regional Programme Manager on carolineltuk@gmail.com
